1.What is a DNS service?

The Domain Name System (DNS) is responsible for locating and translating domains to IPs and vice versa. This service is divided into two modules: Recursive and Authoritative.

  • Recursive: Responsible for resolving external domains over which it has no authority, storing the query in the cache.
  • Authoritative: Responsible for propagating your domain on the internet, including your domain data and reverse lookup.

Ping is a utility that uses the ICMP protocol as a base, it tests connectivity between two devices and also latency. A direct ping to an IP does not involve DNS resolution. When a ping is performed on a domain, DNS resolution occurs first to “discover” the IP that the domain responds to, and then ICMP validates latency and connectivity issues.

Access errors to certain websites can have various causes. The “DNS” error in a browser, for example, might be a generic message. One clear issue could be DNS resolution, but even if the site resolves to the correct IP, it’s also possible that there is no route to the server. It’s always helpful to validate name resolution and ping the server in question, provided it accepts ICMP queries.

To enforce the use of DNS in your network, there are several methods. One is DNAT rules, which force the redirection of port 53 tcp/udp to the designated DNS. This way, any IP the client uses as DNS in the network will have its query sent to TechnoDNS internally.

In TechnoDNS, it is possible to log clients’ queries to sites, providing information about what your client is accessing, including the domain, IP, and access time. The logs are accessible to the network administrator for download via the web.

The DNS service is essential for the proper functioning of the internet. Therefore, redundancies and load distribution among DNS servers must be well-aligned and fully operational. With TechnoDNS and the support team, we can define functions for this “set of best practices”. One of them is the installation of TechnoDNS in AnyCast with OSPF, where DNS servers will respond simultaneously within your netwo

In TechnoDNS, you can easily view your network’s DNS queries through the web interface, where you can find metrics such as NOERROR (Successful Queries), FAIL (Unanswered Queries), NXDOMAIN (Non-existent Domain Queries), among others, that help the provider validate the “health” of their network.

In TechnoDNS, you can view non-existent domain queries, known as NXDOMAIN. Such queries are often from viruses or malicious programs traversing your network. TechnoDNS also features a Blacklist, where we can define a global block for clients. If we detect a new virus in our clients, we can propagate this block globally to all providers.

One of the biggest problems for online gamers is dealing with lag and constant freezes. Restarting the computer or closing games every time this happens is almost routine, making the user experience poor. TechnoDNS from Technobox uses advanced technology. Users can enjoy a browsing experience up to 800% faster with our professional, stable, and monitored DNS.
